Pascal Dupuis had a shorthanded goal and an assist, James Neal scored for the sixth time this season and the depleted Penguins beat the host Wild 4-2 on Tuesday night.

Chris Kunitz and Jordan Staal also got goals and Matt Cooke had two assists for the Penguins, who were winless in their previous three games. They have played eight times in the first 13 days of the season, improving to 4-2-2.

Cal Clutterbuck had a shorthanded goal and Guillaume Latendresse got his first goal in almost an entire calendar year, but the Wild didn't do much against backup goalie Brent Johnson and fell to 2-2-2. Their four-game winning streak against Pittsburgh ended.
Capitals 3, Panthers 0:

Tomas Vokoun blanked his former team with a 20-save performance, and host Washington improved to 5-0, the best start in franchise history. ... Marcus Johansson, Alexander Semin and Jason Chimera scored for the Capitals, who led 1-0 heading into the third period. ... Washington and Detroit are the only NHL teams to win all their games this season. The Capitals' four-game winning streak at home to start the season is also a club record. ... Vokoun was rarely tested, but he couldn't afford a slip-up in a tightly played defensive struggle. It was the 45th NHL shutout for the 35-year-old goalie who played the previous four seasons with Florida. He left for Washington after failing to reach a contract agreement with the Panthers over the summer.
